Michael V. "Mick" and Jean M. "Jeannie" Kelly of Gilbert, celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary with a renewal of their vows at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Brodheadsville. The ceremony was celebrated Deacon Bob O'Connor.
They were married on June 16, 1979 in St. Joseph's Church, Summit Hill.
Mr. Kelly is originally from Fountain Hill and is the son of the late Vincent and Elizabeth Kelly. Mrs. Kelly is originally from Summit Hill and is the daughter of the late James and Margaret Kennedy.
The engagement of Stefanie Markley, Palmerton, to Michael Becker Jr., also of Palmerton, has been announced by her parents.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Markley of Bowmanstown. She is a 1999 graduate of Palmerton Area High School. She is a 2003 graduate of Penn State University, and also earned her master's degree in 2009 from Kutztown University.
Helen Doris Arner, a resident at Heritage Hill Senior Community in Weatherly is celebrating her 96th birthday on Nov. 19.
Born in Parryville in 1913, Helen also resided in Berlinsville, Palmerton, and Lehighton over the years.
Helen was married to Jacob M. Arner for 43 years until his passing in 1976.
She is the proud mother of one son, Byron Arner from Lehighton; the proud grandmother of two, Jacob and Jacqueline; and the great-grandmother of three.
Over the years Helen has traveling extensively with her husband, who was a pilot.
The Slatington High School Class of 1964 held its 45th class reunion on Nov. 7 at the Emerald Fire Company. Members from the Classes of 1963 and 1965 joined in the festivities. Members of the Class of 1964 in attendance included, front row from left, Barbara Serfass Howell, Linda Flexer Wieand, Lucille Beige Follweiler, Joanne Evans Parry, Carol Hughes Feinour, Candyce Mantz Merkle, Kathryn George Kistler and Diane Semmel Peters.
