Saturday, Nov. 14 will be a Family Funspiration Night. The theme is Thanksgiving Dinner. Everyone is to bring a side dish. The turkey will be supplied by the church. The fun starts at 5:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, Nov. 25, Middlecreek Christian Church will hold its annual Thanksgiving Eve service. Services begin at 7 p.m.
The churches comprising the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network will hold a Thanksgiving Service at St. Peter's UMC, on Sunday, Nov. 22, beginning at 3 p.m. All are welcome to join in that service.
Thanksgiving dinner
Effort UMC will continue its tradition of hosting a Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner, beginning at 2 p.m., Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26.

At the last Eldred Township Historical Society it was reported by Helen Mackes that the asphalt shingles on the old post office in Kunkletown had been tested and there is no sign of asbestos, and volunteers to remove them will be safe.
Helen also reported that there is still a grinding wheel from the old grist mill behind Barry Greenzweig on Eldred Township property. It can be the property of the historical society if it is removed. Barry Borger has volunteered to pull it out of the stream.
The PVI-PTO will be hosting a 7th grade Meet Your Friends night on Friday, Nov. 13 from 3:45 until 6 p.m. All children must be picked up right after the dance.
Pleasant Valley Elementary PTO
The PVE PTO will be having its monthly meeting on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 4 p.m. in the all purpose room. All are welcome and babysitting is available.
Polk Elementary School PTO
Polk PTO will be having a Family Fun Night on Friday, Nov. 13 from 6-8p.m. in the gym. Students who attend Polk, and their families are welcome to attend.
Mrs. Mabel Otto, a member of McMichaels UMC, will celebrate her 108th birthday on Nov. 12. Area churches and individuals are encouraged to send her a birthday card, to shower her with blessings, for this special day. The best way to do this is to send cards in care of the church at: McMichael's UMC, RR #2, Box 2420, Saylorsburg, PA 18353.
It is thought she is the oldest United Methodist member in Northeast District of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.
PVE PTO will have its monthly meeting on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 4 p.m. It will be held in the all-purpose room.
Pleasant Valley Intermediate PTO
PVI PTO will be hosting a family bingo on Friday, Nov. 6 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. All students of PVI and their families are welcome to attend.
PVI PTO will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 4:15 p.m. in the all-purpose room.
Pleasant Valley band parents are very proud of the results of the 6th annual "Sounds in the Valley" Band Competition held Saturday, Oct 24, at Pleasant Valley High School.
Having to move indoors due to the inclement weather, Pleasant Valley hosted the USSBA (United States Scholastic Band Association) Competition.
Pleasant Valley 7th Grade Band opened the show, with Catasauqua High School Marching Band, Pen Argyl Green Knight Marching Band and East Stroudsburg High School South Cavalier Marching Band following,
St. Matthew's UCC's Laymen's Fellowship need donations for their annual Bazaar, Bake Sale and Chinese auction on Saturday, Nov. 7. They need donations of quart jars for their homemade soups and for the bake sale and Chinese auction. Please bring your donations to the church on Friday, Nov. 6 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and can be brought on Saturday, Nov. 7 as early as 7 a.m.
If you or someone you know has an old band instrument lying around collecting dust, then please consider donating that instrument to the Pleasant Valley School District. They are accepting all instruments, in any condition. These instruments will be fixed up and put to use by Pleasant Valley students. If you have an instrument you wish to donate, please contact your child's music teacher.
